Most glorious Lord of Lyfe! that, on this day,
Didst make Thy triumph over death and sin;
And, having harrowd hell, didst bring away
Captivity thence captive, us to win:
This joyous day, deare Lord, with joy begin;
And grant that we, for whom thou diddest dye,
Being with Thy deare blood clene washt from sin,
May live for ever in felicity!

And that Thy love we weighing worthily,
May likewise love Thee for the same againe;
And for Thy sake, that all lyke deare didst buy,
With love may one another entertayne!
So let us love, deare Love, lyke as we ought,
—Love is the lesson which the Lord us taught.

I could hardly wait
To keep our date
This lovely Easter morning,
And my heart beat fast
As I came through that door…for

In your Easter bonnet
With all the frills upon it,
You’ll be the grandest lady in
The Easter parade.

I’ll be all in clover,
And when they look you over
I’ll be the proudest fellow in
The Easter parade.

On the Avenue, Fifth Avenue,
The photographers will snap us
And you’ll find that you’re in the rotogravure.

Oh, I could write a sonnet
About your Easter bonnet
And of the girl I’m taking to
The easter parade.
